Sifting Through the Ashes

Post 2 of 2

Welcome to the first Fire Science blog, which will discuss the science involved in investigating and determining the origin and cause of a fire.  Our blog will focus on issues involved in investigation and litigation stage of a claim to assist those who periodically find themselves sifting through the ashes in an attempt to find the first fuel ignited and create a viable hypothesis as to the area of origin or specific cause of a fire.  Understanding the science involved as well as the art that is sometime employed by fire investigators is critical when conducting a scene examination or when trying to determine potential ignition sources.  It is our hope this blog will provide useful guidance on the finer points of fire science.
